REGULAR CLASSES / 6h + 2h practise sessions on Sat & Sun

All classes during the weekend, including the extension workshop are taught in english.

Please read the description below before submitting your registration form. Note that SLOW BAL-LOVE is an international festival with many top-level dancers. Even if you are advanced in your local scene, or at another festival, a lower level might be more fitting for you at this festival. There are three levels to choose from. Contact us if you have any questions.

Fundamental level

This class is ideal for dancers with experience in partner dancing, specifically in swing or blues, but with little to no experience in Slow Balboa. A minimum of one year of dance experience is required for this level. The focus will be on learning the fundamentals of Slow Balboa and slow swing dancing. No audition is needed to join this level.

Intermediate Level (2 groups!)

This class is for dancers looking to enhance their basic technique in Slow Balboa and develop their dance vocabulary, transitions, flow, and musicality. The class will also cover more complex figures and rhythmical variations. A minimum of two years of partner dance experience in swing or blues is required, along with some familiarity with Slow Balboa. Knowledge of the original dancers, Dean Raftery and Ray Cunningham, is expected. No audition is required for this level.
NEWS! We closed the first INT group with many followers left behind (on the waiting list).
So we are adding one more teachers couple (Shieva & Giovanni) so we can add one more INT group.

Advanced Level

This class is designed for dancers who have been practicing Slow Balboa for an extended period. You should be a prominent Balboa dancer in your local community, possibly even teaching Slow Balboa. You should have a unique style and be a quick learner. An audition is required to join this level. You must sign up for the audition, which will take place on Saturday morning, and passing the audition is necessary to secure a spot in the class. If you do not pass, you will be offered a place in the Intermediate level.

Advanced+ Level

The Advanced+ level is for the most talented and experienced dancers of the event. You can only attend this level if you have registered for the Advanced level and if you got an invitation to join the Advanced+ level. The invitations for the Advanced+ level will be sent out before the festival, but we may also invite dancers to join the Advanced+ level during the Advanced audition on Saturday morning.

Practice Sessions

Practice sessions are open to all levels of dancers, and you will rotate partners during the sessions, so there's no need to bring a partner. The goal is to give you additional time to work on what you've learned in class and to possibly integrate new and existing skills. These sessions will be guided by a teaching couple who will organize the activities, assist you, and answer any questions you might have.

EXTENSION CLASSES / 3h on Friday

"Slow dancing for Slow bal dancers" w. ALBA & GAS

You can add these 3 extra hours of classes to your Full or Party pass.

Love Slow Bal but want to feel more connected, fluid and expressive in your dancing?
In this workshop, we’ll explore how elements of blues dance can help you move with greater ease and musicality.
You’ll learn how to:
• Relax your spine and move naturally for effortless flow
• Stay grounded through floor connection for better control
• Play with “lag” to stretch the beat while staying in sync
• Rethink balance as a dynamic adjustment, using small imbalances to enhance expression

Through fun exercises and guided movement exploration, we’ll apply these techniques to general slow dancing before bringing them into Slow Bal. By the end of the class, you’ll have new tools to refine your movement, deepen your connection, and make your slow dancing feel even better.
Come ready to explore, experiment, and take your Slow Bal to the next level!
